Have you ever heard of what so-called the "butterfly effect"? If you have not, one of its definitions, as given by Urban Dictionary, is "a theory that everything affects everything meaning that everything you do is important and has a reason; even the smallest things that you do can really affect your life." I shall take this idea a bit further as to expand it to that our actions can define the courses of both our future and those of others, whom you may have met in the past, interact with on a regular basis, or are yet to know. I dare to emphasise the influence of our existences to everybody else because we, humans, are collective individuals who, without a doubt, depend on the communes in which we live. Therefore, each and every action of ours are influential tools that we need to take into hard consideration before deploying them. The vitality of this responsibility put immense pressure on some more than another, however.
As one may know, something is happening during every second of our lives regardless of our knowledge or recognition, which may or may not affect us directly. Some of those events may themselves even be what we thrive for, pursue, or wish to avoid. Usual enough, for us who are aware of such potential influences, we attempt to find alternatives to prepare for the unexpected. However, more often than not, only time can do the dirty work. For time to finish what we cannot, it requires us to be patient. But patience is not everyone's favourite quo. So instead of moving on with our lives when things fail to come to our ways and waiting for time to solve the problems, we hide.
Some people then create a dark cage for themselves; while others even invent some sort of fantasies in their dreams to cloak their souls. There was indeed a time when I rather sleep than stay awake - when I rather live in dreams than breath in reality. There was a saying, "you can run, but you can't hide." We have been told that ever since we were young. Maybe it is the right way to look at the world.
When we decide to hide, the first thing we do is to close our eyes. Yes, complete or partial darkness appears the same when you do such. It does not matter. However, the problem is that we are not hiding from the world, but from ourselves; our lives. Once you acknowledge the problem, that is when our consciousness kicks in to get us back to our senses. Whispers of memories and imaginations begin to scrap off the lock and release us back to reality. What we can do at that point is to remain silent hoping that things will turn out better. Then, we fall asleep once more to the many worlds, where queens and kings are no other than you. The dream seems long, but it won't last forever. Tick tock, hours from there, you're awake again, more awake than you have ever been. Now you think that everything is well again. But you're still yet fooled by the blind illusions caused by false hopes.
Not for long, the process will repeat itself, and you will realise that you have not lived. At that point, you wake up and learn to live again. However, the time that passed will never be recovered. Time may heal, but it only moves forward. It does not care about us ageing or civilisation changing. And the last thing you realise is that it is time to say goodbyes to your loved ones; regrets will fuel up, and you are then forced to take the last long sleep and return to your best friend, darkness.
So face your fears and live your life because you only get one about which you are certain.
